Roullete is a casino game in which players bet on a single number, various groupings of numbers, the color red or black, and whether the number is odd or even. The game’s modern layout and wheel structure evolved in the casinos and gambling dens of Europe. The roulette wheel consists of a solid wood disk slightly convex in shape. Its rim contains metal compartments, or pockets, painted alternately red and black, and numbered one through 36. On European-style wheels, a green pocket carries the sign 0. On American wheels, two green pockets mark the double zero.
Before each spin, the dealer gives players time to place their chips on the table’s betting areas. Each area corresponds to a different type of bet, offering flexibility and complexity. Bets can be placed on either the inside or outside of the main grid, with the latter having lower payouts but better odds of winning.
