Domino is a small rectangular block of wood or plastic, with one face bearing an arrangement of spots or dots like those on dice. The other face is blank or identically patterned. A set of dominoes, generally 28 in number, is used for playing games in which players attempt to form lines of domino pieces whose values match those of the other dominoes already on the board. Dominoes are also popular as decorative and architectural elements, especially in the form of sculptures.

This means that for each action or event in a scene, the writer needs to provide enough motivation or logic for readers to accept it. Otherwise, the scene fails. For example, if your protagonist shoots a stranger, you must provide readers with enough motivation to forgive this immoral act or to keep liking the character as their hero. This is how you create a scene that works for your reader. The more scenes that work for your reader, the more likely they are to enjoy your story. Good writing requires careful plotting and planning.
