Roullete, or Roulette, is a casino game based on the spinning of a wheel. Players can place bets on a single number, various groupings of numbers, whether the winning number is odd or even, or if the numbers are high (19-36) or low (1-18).
A roulette wheel consists of a solid wooden disk slightly convex in shape with a circumference lined with frets (or compartments) which are painted alternately red and black. Thirty-six of these compartments, plus two green ones on American wheels containing an additional 0 and 00, form the numbered pockets of the wheel. A croupier spins the roulette wheel in a circular motion while players place bets on the pocket they believe will contain the winning number. Bets are placed in sections of the table known as “inside” and “outside.” Inside bets place chips directly on individual numbers or groups of numbers based on their position. Outside bets place chips on certain positions of the table, such as all the odd or all the even, and pay a higher payout.
The Dozens Bet (Douzaine in French) – This is where you wager that the winning number will be in either the first dozen of numbers on the layout, the second, or the third. This bet pays 2-1. The Odd or Even Bet – Also known as Impair et Pair in French. This is a bet on one of the 18 odd or even numbers on the layout. If the ball lands on 0, 00, or any of the green numbers, your bet is lost.
